Welcome to my home page.  The purpose of this site is to provide me with a window to the world, to meet others who share the same interests and to promote a little business that one day soon will become active.

Let me give you a brief, and hopefully not too boring synopsis of me.  I was born John Mackinnon Fleming on 20 March 1942 in Melbourne, Australia.  I have been married twice, firstly to Pamela June Hutton, a marriage which lasted from 1965 to 1993 and Sandra Lenore May from 1999 to the present day.  I have three sons by my first marriage, Stewart, Simon and Matthew who in turn have presented me with wonderful grandchildren.

Today I am privileged to love and be loved by a beautiful, intelligent and warm woman, my precious wife Sandra.

I have spent all my working life in the gas industry, first with Gas and Fuel Corporation in Melbourne as a scientist and later a design engineer with that same organisation, then as a technical gas regulator in Queensland.  I am currently the Chief Inspector, Petroleum and Gas in Queensland, but will retire from that position on 1 August 2008.

My interests are very broad and I spend most of my time “doing things” rather than watching TV.  One major interest is family history and another is home wine making.  I also like “messing about in boats” and am currently restoring an old boat.  I take pleasure in my garden and cooking for friends.

 As an active member of an amateur theatrical society I thoroughly enjoy “treading the boards” and have played a wide variety of characters including an Irish policeman ( “to be sure”), an English Lord (“I say old chap”) and a German General (“Ve haf vays of making you tok”) as well as the “hairy godmother” in a hilarious send-up of Cinderella.  But my all time favourite was performing “Who’s on first”; that amazing Abbott and Costello sketch with Jeff La Roche in 2005.  I mess about with music and write the occasional poem/song. 

I love good conversation which is sadly becoming a lost art, and I am always on the lookout for new friends, old friends and long-lost relations.
