FAQs

1.  Who are you?  My name is John Fleming.  I have been married twice and had three children by my first marriage to Pam nee Hutton, Stewart, SImon and Matthew.  My wife's name is Sandra (formerly Dowdle nee May) and we live at Scarborough in Queensland. I currently have four grandchildren whom I see regularly, namely Jack , Hannah, Jessica and Tobi (who is the son of Sandy's daughter Joanna),. We do not see Matthew and his family, including his son Hunter as they keep to themselves.  I have a brother Peter and a sister Margot who both live in Victoria.  My parents are deceased.

2.  Ok, that's your name and you've done a bit of breeding, but who are you?  I was born in 1942 in Armadale, a suburb of Melbourne Victoria and lived in Bentleigh and later East Burwood for a total of 44 years then moved to Brisbane, Queensland, living in Arana Hills, Woody Point, Everton Hills and now Scarborough on the Redcliffe Peninsula.

3.  So now we know how old you are and where you lived.  But who are you?  I went to West Bentleigh Primary School, then with a small scholarship to Gardenvale Central School and was awarded a further scholarship to Haileybury College.  I gained a Diploma of Applied Physics from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology and a Science Degree from Monash University.

4.  Yeah, yeah, so you were a bit of a student, but who are you?  I was employed as a trainee physicist by Gas and Fuel Corporation of Victoria and rose through the ranks, first as a senior scientist and then employed by Engineering Department  as Communications and Electrical Engineer.  In 1986 I moved to Brisbane as Deputy Chief Gas Examiner and again was promoted, holding the position of Chief Inspector, Petroleum and Gas for more than 20 years.  In 2008, I retired and set up a consultancy business, Gas Advisory Services Pty Ltd. which has been quite a success.  See the GAS pages.

5. My what a busy little beaver - OK so you made a name for yourself in the gas industry, but who are you?  I enjoy music and theatre.  Sandy and I performed for many years in Amateur Theatre. I dabble in genealogy and have done quite a lot of work tracing family history. I play a keyboard (not brilliantly) and enjoy composing new tunes.  In 1992 I wrote an autobiography called "Snapshots in Time".  I have also written poems and songs and, these days, Sandy and I are members of a choir, the Hillbrook Chorale.

5.  So you are 68 years old, a father and grandfather, did a tad of study, worked in the Gas Industry, and you tend to be an exhibitionist but who are you?   I think that I am all of those things above. But mostly, I guess, I am me.

Good answer!
